The Dayton Art Institute's permanent collection includes more than 26,000 items, with more than 1,000 on view at the museum. The collection includes extensive collections of Asian, pre-Columbian, European, American and Contemporary works.
The museum’s Experiencenter, is an interactive gallery for families and young people which offers visitors the opportunity to experience great art in smaller, thematically based exhibitions that stimulate curiosity and creativity.
In addition, the museum hosts a diverse range of special exhibitions, such as Changing Landscapes: Contemporary Chinese Fiber Art and Stephen Knapp: Lightpaintings, both coming to the museum in 2012.
