Sand Painting

Young artists imagine the different animals that swim deep underwater and use sand to paint a beachy scene by the sea!

Artwork: Ansel Adams (American, 1902-1984), Ocean, Rodeo Lagoon, California, date unknown, gelatin silver print. Museum purchase with funds provided by the family of Ethel L. Rike and gift of the artist, 1968.28

 

Materials Needed:
1) tempera paints
2) paintbrush
3) pencil
4) 1: card stock or multi-media paper 8”x10”
5) 1-2: containers for mixing paint / paint & sand
6) Optional: small items like shells or stones
