The Dayton Art Institute is happy to announce the launch of our new free monthly lesson plans and materials for all Kindergarten through 12th-grade classrooms. These materials include arts integration activities, worksheets, videos and PowerPoint Presentations. The purpose is to highlight local and underrepresented artists, represent students’ lived experiences and utilize Ohio’s Learning Standards through art.

ELEMENTARY: Seeing is Believing: But How Do You Feel?
Attached are Secondary (K-5th) lessons focused on James Pate. He is a living local Dayton artist who was on display at the Dayton Art Institute. James creates large-scale charcoal drawings and portraits using his own art style “Techno-Cubism”. In the James Pate lesson plan materials, you will find  social studies standards, Social-Emotional learning, inquiry-based learning, reflection and discussion opportunities for Elementary (K-5th grade) students.

These materials include: a PDF PowerPoint Presentation, a PDF Lesson Plan and a PDF worksheet.
