Become a Volunteer!

Leonardo LeagueThe Dayton Art Institute volunteers are committed to enriching lives and serving the community by creating meaningful experiences with art. With less than 100 employees and nearly 500 volunteers, The DAI volunteers are an essential resource to this organization.  Day after day, our volunteers support willingly, as individuals, couples or in a group, to ensure the museums success.  We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities with a minimum age limit of 15.

Volunteer positions consist of:

  • “Ask Me” Ambassadors/Information Experts
  • Auditorium Support
    (House Captain, Ticket Scanners & Ushers)
  • Bartenders
  • Department Support
  • The Lange Family Experiencenter
  • Building Rental
  • Greeters
  • Guest Services Desk
  • Leo Bistro Host/Hostess
  • Museum Store
  • Photography Support
  • Program and Event Support
  • Team Captains
  • Summer Camp
  • Tech Volunteer
  • Ticket Scanners (special exhibitions, programs and events)
  • Other positions as needed

Volunteer Committment

A volunteer commitment may be temporary or long-term.  Volunteers making a long-term commitment are encouraged, but not required, to become museum members and complete a minimum of 25 hours annually.

We Offer Three Volunteer Categories

Occasional - For an annual special event such as Oktoberfest, Art Ball, or special projects
- Seasonal special events, theatre seasons or event series (parties, jazz, etc.)
- Monthly or weekly schedules at a regular time for events and museum supportRegardless of the time and commitment you are able to provide, what you can contribute is honored and greatly appreciated. We value any time you can give to ensure our continued success.

To begin the process of becoming a DAI volunteer, you must complete the Volunteer Application & Background Check Form.

NOTE: Submitting an application to The Dayton Art Institute tells us that you are interested in becoming a volunteer, it does not mean you are a volunteer. Our new Volunteer Hub makes it easy to schedule your volunteer activities at The DAI! All volunteer scheduling is now done online, and volunteers may schedule their commitments months in advance. Once a volunteer is selected to work for The DAI, he or she will be provided with a username, password, and guide to the Volunteer Hub. Oktoberfest 2015

Interested in volunteering during Oktoberfest 2015? Simply access the Volunteer Hub or the Oktoberfest volunteer sign up form directly to register, and you will have access to all the available dates, times and volunteer opportunities during this fun-filled weekend.
