Blue Star Museums

The Dayton Art Institute participates in the Blue Star Museums program each summer. It is a collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and more than 2,000 museums across America, that offers free admission to the nation’s active duty military personnel, including National Guard and Reserve, and their families. The DAI will take part in the 2023 program from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.

Blue Star Museums provides families an opportunity to enjoy the nation’s cultural heritage and learn more about their new communities after a military move. A list of participating museums is available at www.arts.gov/bluestarmuseums. The site also includes a map to help plan visits.

“Our military personnel and their families give so much to protect our country,” says DAI Director & CEO Michael R. Roediger. “Blue Star Museums is an important way for the DAI and other museums throughout the country to thank them and give something back to them. The Dayton Art Institute is proud to participate in this program.”

During the program period, the DAI offers free admission for active-duty military, National Guard and Reserve personnel, and up to five family members. This includes admission to all Special Exhibitions, Focus Exhibitions and the DAI collection galleries. In addition, the DAI offers active duty military personnel and their families a $10 discount on the purchase or renewal of an individual, duo or family membership.
