Native American Art

In 2016, the Ohio State Capital Appropriations funding awarded the Dayton Art Institute $1 million to assist in the reinterpretation of the museum’s galleries. With the assistance of Kay Koeninger, Professor of Art History at Sinclair Community College, the first gallery that was reinterpreted and reopened features the DAI’s collection of Native American Art. Located in Gallery 209, just off the museum’s Great Hall, it includes pottery, textiles, basketry and other artworks.
