Kasebier was an influential photographer and driving force of the Pictorialist movement, which strove to elevating photography to be accepted as fine art. Kasebier is known for photographs of women and children, often featuring great care and attention to draping fabric and glowing, ethereal lighting. Kasebier kept a photography studio in New York City and knew and photographed many artists whose work appears in the DAI Collection, including Robert Henri, Edward Steichen, and August Rodin.
