About the Art

Weston’s Pepper (sometimes referred to as Pepper no. #30) is an example of the expressive potential of photography. Using dramatic lighting and staging, Weston posed a simple pepper and captured it to great effect, emphasizing its beautifully curving form and reflective skin. The longer one looks, the more this unassuming subject suggests movement and presence.
