As a sculptor, painter and glass artist, Statom combines multiple mediums and uses a variety of materials in his art practice. In this assembled work, he used plate glass, hot- and cold-worked glass, blown and shaped objects, items from daily life, as well as abstract and naturalistic designs created in paint and pencil. The title could translate as “oval tide” by combining Spanish and Romanian languages, but Statom claims, “The sound of the name is more important than the actual meaning.”
