An assortment of elegantly dressed men and women enjoy a summer evening on the terrace of a fashionable Paris restaurant. Seated around candlelit tables, which have been cleared of most dishes, people take part in after dinner conversations. In the center, a gentleman appears to make advances on a young woman, who keeps her back turned from his attention. Others appear to rest, as if ready to call an end to the evening. All in attendance appear oblivious to the fireworks bursting in the distance.
