Gallery 206
This work pictures the marshes and meandering waterways near the artist's studio in Ipswich, Massachusetts, a frequent subject for Dow. Note the dashes of color used in the foreground and the bold painted strokes to create the clouds and sky. The vivid colors and decorative elements of this painting demonstrate the artist's interest in and knowledge of European Post-Impressionism.
