About the Art

Shortly after studying glassmaking under Dale Chihuly, Zynsky became assistant director and head of the hot shop at the New York Experimental Glass Workshop in New York City (now UrbanGlass). It was there, in 1982, that she created her now recognizable technique of working with heavy glass threads. Her process, called filet de verre, or netted glass, involves fusing parallel layers of colored glass filaments that are then shaped into basket forms in a kiln.
