Are you passionate about your arts community? Would you enjoy teaching or engaging students and/or adults in a unique educational setting?
Apply to become a Museum Guide at Dayton Art Institute! Museum Guides are volunteers who serve as valued members of the museum’s Education team and provide gallery experiences to the public, including school, adult and community groups. Guides also support the museum’s growing online learning library by helping create online educational content. By leading visitors in engaging experiences at the museum, Museum Guides help foster appreciation, connection, and meaning-finding in their community.
Individuals of all backgrounds and professions are welcome. Prior experience with art or teaching is not required but is preferred. Guides are passionate about working with a community and the museum along with the diverse cultures, stories and identities represented in its collection.
Applications are due by December 2, 2022. Guides-in-Training will receive specialized training on gallery teaching strategies, learning theory and the museum’s collection. Following an initial training schedule, a one-year commitment to providing gallery experiences to the public is required, (5 gallery experiences per year minimum, 10 preferred*).
