EUROPEAN
MASTERPIECES FROM THE RAU COLLECTION Lecture Series The Rau collection of 95 masterworks is considered
to be one of the most important private collections in the world.
While most collectors specialize in one period or artist or style,
the late Dr. Rau’s taste was much broader. Although he did
not intend his collection to be a lesson in art history, he chose
works of outstanding quality that represent the major artistic movements
in European art over 500 years. To showcase the remarkable breadth
of this exhibition, The Dayton Art Institute will host a lecture
series. Lectures will focus on the art movements and themes represented
in the Rau collection.
