Volunteer Opportunities

Oktoberfest Volunteers
Volunteers needed for The Dayton Art Institute’s 38th annual Oktoberfest. 

Skills: Friendly, helpful and cheerful!

Attire: Casual with practical, yet comfortable shoes.

Time Commitment: Three (3) hour shifts a day. Short-term commitments.

Accounting Assistant
Volunteers needed to perform accounting, filing, copying, data entry and shredding tasks. Assist with accounts payables/receivable.

Skills:  Computer literate. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel. Must be familiar with database navigation. Must know how to run a 10 key calculator. College students with accounting experience are welcome. Good organizational, clerical and customer service skills. Good verbal and written skills. Good calculation and number skills. Good teamwork.

Time Commitment: Up to three (3) days a week. At least 2-3 hours a day. Long term commitment preferred.

Museum Greeters and Special Exhibition Ticket Takers
We are looking for volunteers to greet patrons and take tickets for special exhibitions

Skills: Friendly, helpful and cheerful!

Attire: Business casual with practical, yet comfortable shoes.

Time Commitment: At least three (3) hours a day. Short and long term commitments available.

Phone Receptionist
Friendly and enthusiastic volunteers needed to greet our guests via phone.  Responsibilities include taking messages, providing information to patrons on upcoming events and programs; providing directions; forwarding calls to appropriate staff members; informing staff of visitors and taking phone orders for memberships or events such as Oktoberfest Preview Party.

Skills: If you enjoy engaging people on the phone and have a good smiling voice, then this could be the ideal volunteer position for you. Student volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

Time Commitment: At least three (3) hours a day. Shifts available Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursdays only. Long term commitment preferred.

Volunteer Scheduler
Volunteers needed to assist with maintaining volunteer database, scheduling the volunteers and following up with volunteers.  Must always maintain a current schedule and contact list of volunteers. Most of the scheduling can be handled via email, but some phone contact is necessary. New volunteers must always be contacted via the phone.

Skills: Computer literate. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel. Must be familiar with database navigation. Good organizational, clerical and customer service skills. Good verbal and written skills. Excellent phone etiquette and a good smiling voice also desired.  Good teamwork.

Time Commitment: Will vary based on events and exhibitions.  However, at this time, up to three (3) days a week at least 2-3 hours a day desired. Long term commitment preferred.
