Traditional Intaglio Printmaking
for Beginners
Instructor: Kristen Markling
Create copper printing plates
using the old techniques of the Golden Age of Dutch Art. Become familiar
with terms like acid biting, aquatint, dry point and more. Fees: $ 75
members, $85 non-members. Participants provide materials.

Oil Painting: The Portrait
Instructor: Greg Dearth
Rembrandt
was a master of the portrait. Learn to paint the human face with
the same realism in this oil painting course. Proportion, color-mixing,
proper brush choice and canvas tinting will be discussed. Learn how to
create a successful story with lighting, settings and props. Work from
a live model during class, but the instructor will also address techniques
for working from your own photographs. Fees: $130 members, $145 non-members.Materials:
Canvas is supplied. Participants provide all other materials.

bobbin lace with linen thread and one dozen wooden bobbins. Enjoy a discussion
of the history of lace as you learn this traditional art.Fees: $70 members,

Classic Bookbinding with Leather
and Copper (ages 13 and up)
Instructor: Bill Felker

Make a leather and copper journal
from scratch using old-world techniques like the masters. Learn how to
decorate leather and copper, make case binding, ribbons, cords, and more.
Fees: $70 members, $80 for non-members. All materials provided.

Non-Toxic
Printmaking (ages 13-17)
Instructor: Erin Holscher
1:00 - 3:30 p.m.
Learn how Rembrandt and his
contemporaries created prints or multiple images from one plate, using
intaglio printmaking techniques. Basic techniques in dry point and line
etching will be demonstrated with an emphasis on environmentally friendly
processes. Create a series of your own prints on the press! Fees: $65
members, $75 non-members. All materials provided.
