Max May Memorial Holocaust Art Exhibition

South Gallery

The Max May Memorial Holocaust Art Exhibition features art from students in grades 5 – 12 from public, private and parochial schools throughout greater Dayton. The theme of this year’s exhibition is Through the Eyes of a Child, focusing on how children were affected by the Holocaust and how today’s children can learn from this experience.

The artworks on view reflect the students’ intensive classroom study of the Holocaust. Using a variety of media, students offer a personal interpretation and reflection through their artwork. It is the hope of the show’s organizers that this study will diminish prejudice and racism. The 26 works of art on view showcase the depth of talent, creativity and insight of these young artists.

The art contest is held under the auspices of the Holocaust Education Committee of the Jewish Federation of Greater Dayton and is sponsored by Renate Frydman and her family in memory of their grandfather Max May.
