William Morris: Time Traveler
Speaker: James Yood
James Yood, Art Historian at The Art Institute of Chicago, will give an illustrated lecture, which surveys William Morris' special position as a master glassblower and contemporary glass sculptor. The Dayton Art Institute's current exhibition, William Morris: Myth, Object and the Animal, demonstrates the artist' s interest in nature, ancient civilizations and his ability to create what seem to be artifacts from earlier cultures. Mr.Yood explores William Morris' unrivaled technical achievement along with his passion for the natural world.
