Vanguard Concerts is a non-profit organization founded in 1962 to present an annual international chamber music series at The Dayton Art Institute.

Vanguard Concerts brings its 46th season of the world’s top chamber music ensembles and soloists to The Dayton Art Institute’s magnificent NCR Renaissance Auditorium.

Vanguard Concerts season is October through April. All concerts are held at 8 p.m. in the NCR Renaissance Auditorium of The Dayton Art Institute.

Claremont Trio
The Claremont Trio secured a place as one of the most exciting young groups performing today when it won the first Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson International Trio Award in 2003. The trio – twins Emily (violin) and Julia (cello) Bruskin plus pianist Donna Kwong – have also secured their place as one of Vanguard’s most applauded chamber ensembles.

Mayuko Kamio, Violin
In June 2007, Japanese violinist Mayuko Kamio won the Gold Medal in the thirteenth annual Moscow Tchaikovsky Competition. Since her concerto debut in Tokyo at the age of ten, under the baton of Charles Dutoit, she has appeared as soloist with major world orchestras. Her 2003 New York concerto debut she was hailed as “a radiant talent.”

Kuss String Quartet
Since its successful debuts in the Berlin Philharmonic, New York’s Carnegie Hall, London’s Wigmore Hall, and at the Salzburg Festival and the Schubertiade, the Kuss Quartet is recognized as a rising star among today’s young string quartets.

Robert Beliniç, Guitar
Acclaimed as “a genius, a poet, a super-sensitive musician,” the young Croatian Robert Beliniç has given recitals in the United States at Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall, Merkin Concert Hall, La Jolla Music Society, and many music festivals. He won the 2002 Ivo Vuljevic Award as “the best young Croatian artist.”

Prima Trio from Oberlin
Violinist Farhad Hudiyev, clarinetist Boris Allakhverdyan, and pianist Anastasia Dedik formed the Prima Trio at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in 2004. They were grand prize winners of the 2007 Fischoff national chamber music competition. Last year’s season included a performance at the Oberlin College Presidential Inauguration Concert, plus concerts in Germany and Italy.
