CHILDREN IN AMERICAN ART

On loan from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, this exhibition includes 46 paintings by some of the greatest names in American painting of the 18th and 19th centuries.  More Information.


Oktoberfest 2008 Preview Party
7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Guests will enjoy complimentary draft beer and wine and a relaxing, less crowded atmosphere. Guests will also have the first opportunity to purchase beautiful hand crafted wares by local and national artisans. Advance tickets are $40 for museum members and $50 for non-members. Preview Party tickets purchased at the gate are $75.

Fiction, Fine Art, and Fun!

The Blood of Flowers by Anita Amirrezvani

Join the Miami Valley’s only book club dedicated to art-related fiction for a lively discussion of both literature and art. The group meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month, September through June. Free and open to the public. New participants are always welcome! Families! Experience a day in the life of a child during the 1700s and 1800s!
• Meet people from the past and hear their stories, including poetry by Paul Lawrence Dunbar
• Play historical games and make art projects with historical materials
• Watch an old-fashioned ice cream demonstration and enjoy a your own scoop
• Come dressed in your favorite historical costume
• Take a special tour of Children in American Art

Family Day and Tour Combination: $6 members, $12 youth non-members, $20 adult non-member, $18 senior non-members for both adult and senior

Vanguard Concerts: Mayuko Kamio, Violin
In June 2007, Japanese violinist Mayuko Kamio won the Gold Medal in the thirteenth annual Moscow Tchaikovsky Competition. Since her concerto debut in Tokyo at the age of ten, under the baton of Charles Dutoit, she has appeared as soloist with major world orchestras. Her 2003 New York concerto debut she was hailed as “a radiant talent.” More Information.
