YECK VISITING ARTIST PROGRAM

Call for Upcoming Yeck Visiting Artist Installation:

Ohio artists are invited to participate in the creation of an installation relating to the upcoming exhibition in the Experiencenter, an interactive gallery for young people. The exhibition, KIDS AS CURATORS, will open in the Experiencenter May 10, 2008. This exhibition is a collaborative effort between students from three Dayton area schools and the museum. Focusing on Ohio art and artists, the students will select 10-12 works from the museum's collection to be used in the exhibition and respond to the works of art through both written and visual interpretations. These original works by the young curators will be displayed as part of the exhibition. The Yeck Visiting Artist will create an installation that would incorporate the artist's personal response to the artworks from the museum’s collection selected for the exhibition by the students.

The Yeck Visiting Artist will be responsible for the creation, installation and deinstallation of the artwork for the Experiencenter installation. The artist will attend the opening for the installation and accompanying workshop(s). There will be a workshop on the day of the opening and possibly additional workshops relating to the installation occurring on future dates. There will be a cash stipend for the artist (artist is responsible for all costs related to creation, installation and deinstallation of artwork). The installation will open in conjunction with one of the following exhibitions:
