Education Department
The Mission of the Education Department is to develop visual literacy, an awareness of art’s place in history, an appreciation for its ability to transcend various cultures and ethnic backgrounds, an understanding of how visual art is created and an on-going inquisitiveness about the nature of art and its value in our lives.

The Education Department is committed to providing quality arts education opportunities for visitors of all ages in support of The Dayton Art Institute’s Mission Statement. The Department enthusiastically embraces the findings of the National Assessment of Education Progress Arts Education framework, which identifies arts education as a crucial component of a complete and well-rounded educational experience for all students. The Education Department has developed a variety of activities, programs and resource materials that will challenge educators and students of all ages.
