surface?² Discover how artists use
traditional and nontraditional materials to
communicate literally and figuratively to the viewer.
In the studio students explore how artists choose materials to express their
concepts or ideas. Students use a variety of nontraditional materials to
create their own fantasy environments. Fees:
$7 per student. Maximum of 50 students.
ART CONNECTIONS
This interactive project developed by The Dayton Art Institute helps area
educators promote the visual arts as an integral part of a comprehensive
curriculum. The
program is comprised of three unique components:
ART CONNECTIONS: Discover the World (4th - 6th grade students)
ART CONNECTIONS: Discover America
4th - 6th grade students
ART CONNECTIONS: Discover Writing
7th - 9th grade students
Each program involves three visits to the museum, with the third visit being
the culminating event, the Art Affair. At the Art Affair students design a
cultural exhibit, give gallery talks or read a selection of their writing.
Friends and family are invited to attend this special event. These
programs take place January though May. There is no charge for this program,
which is sponsored by MeadWestvaco. Registrations are taken on a first come
basis by calling 223-5277 ext. 334 or email scrothers@daytonartinstitute.org
