Summer Art Camp: ART OUT LOUD!

Going into our 11th season, The Dayton Art Institute’s Summer Art Camp is getting LOUD this summer with some very artful instruments! Your young artist will get inspired with an up-close look at some inventive and humorous instruments in our special exhibition Hybrid Visions including film-reel guitars, cowboy boot violins, axe cellos, Styrofoam-packaging pianos, and installations that explore the intersection between art and music.

Back in the studio, our highly qualified staff will teach your young artist how to create their own zany art instruments, as well as sculpt with clay, paint, create other original 2-D and 3-D works of art and silk screen their own T-shirt. Teens can take part in Teen Summer Studio, an in-depth exploration and training focusing on a different art-making material each week. Teens will learn a variety of ways each material can be utilized to create fine art. Material themes include sculpture, painting, jewelry, mixed media/assemblage and more.

At the end of each week, families are invited to enjoy their artist's exhibit at the ART PARTY! And you just never know...you might even hear a concert as campers provide their own music for the reception!

Mini Art Camp

For ages 5-7
Join us for half-day camps to jump-start your little artist’s inherent creativity! Our staff will introduce your child to the world of art with literature, gallery hunts, games and loads of art-making in the studios! Explore a variety of materials including paint, clay and collage. New themes and projects each week!

Monday through Friday
Morning Program: 9:00 a.m. - noon (Friday Art Party! To be held at 11:30 a.m.)
Afternoon Program: 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. (Friday Art Party! To be held at 3:30 p.m.)

Fees: $65 members, $75 non-members per session. Please dress your child in art-making clothes and comfortable closed toe shoes!

Summer Art Camp

Fees: $135 members, $150 non-members per session. Please pack a lunch and drink and dress your child in art-making clothes and comfortable closed toe shoes! * Session 4 Fees:  $108 members, $120 non-members.

Teen Summer Studio

for ages 13 - 17
Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Session 2: June 16 - 20 Drawing & Printmaking
Session 4: June 30-July 3 (No camp on July 4) Installation*
Session 6: July 14-18 Painting
Session 7: July 21-25 Fiber Art
Session 8: July 28- August 1 Jewelry
Session 9: August 4-8 Sculpture

Fees: $135 members, $150 non-members per session (Jewelry Camp: $150 members, $165 non-members) Please pack a lunch and drink.

* Sesion 4 Fees: $108 members, $120 non-members.

Extended Care
The perfect solution for families on the go! Your child can come early and stay late to play games, watch movies and make more art during Extended Care. A healthy morning and afternoon snack is provided. Families are welcome to drop off and pick up their child/children anytime within the Extended Care hours. All ages.

Extended care is available for sessions 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10
Hours:
8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. Monday - Friday
3:00 - 5:30 p.m. Monday - Thursday (On Friday, we request that all families join us for their young artist’s art reception at 2:30 p.m.)
Fee: $75 flat fee for each week.
