The
artistic legacy of Korea is distinctive, yet intimately linked with
that of China and Japan. Korean artists modified Chinese traditions
to accord with a native preference for simplicity, purity of line
and spontaneity. During the imperial rule of the Koryo dynasty (918-1392),
Korean kilns produced some of its finest ceramics. China's light-green
celedon ware, for example, provided the foundation for Korea's innovative
inlaid celadon ceramics. |
