Changing Landscapes & Flow: Related Programs

Many special programs will take place in conjunction with the exhibitions Changing Landscapes and Maya Lin: Flow. A $1 Historic Preservation Fee will be added to all ticket sale transactions.

Tour & Tea

$17 for members, $30 for non-members
Begin with a docent-led tour of the exhibitions, followed by a tea consisting of Chinese tea eggs, Chinese confections, tea sandwiches, fresh fruit and cheese, and a variety of teas, in the museum’s Private Dining Room.

Ticket Booklet:
SAVE by purchasing a booklet of eight tickets (use in any combination) for $49 members, $63 non-members. Booklets include two tickets to the exhibitions that may be used any time during the run of the exhibition.

In response to the success of the 2011 film series, DAI brings you another series of world-famous feature films, along with special insights to complement the special exhibition Changing Landscapes. Enjoy your cinema experience in the recently upgraded NCR Renaissance Auditorium.

Natural Indigo Dyeing Workshop
Saturday, April 14, 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. 
$75 for members, $100 for non-members
$50 materials fee paid to instructor
Registration deadline: April 6
Begin with a docent-led tour of the exhibitions. In the studio, learn hand dye techniques with the internationally recognized artist Suki Kwon. Using natural indigo, known to be insect repellent and antibacterial, you will create a traditional Bojagi, an eco-friendly wrap.

Weaving Workshop and Tour
Sunday, April 15, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.
$20 for members, $30 for non-members
Registration deadline: April 6
Especially for educators! Begin with a docent-led tour of the exhibitions, then learn how to use inexpensive materials that are already available in your classroom to create your own mini weavings. Materials, lesson plans and CEUs are included. WOAEA members receive a 20% discount.

Chinese Brush Painting Workshop
Thursday, April 19, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
$30 for members, $45 for non-members
$10 materials fee paid to instructor
Registration deadline: April 10
Learn the techniques of Chinese brush painting from instructor Yufeng Wang and create your own painting. This workshop is for ages 15 and older.

Needle Felting Workshop
Saturday, April 21, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.
$50 for members, $75 for non-members
$15 materials fee paid to instructor
Registration deadline: April 13
Create a mini needle-felt landscape with Ali Marshall. Begin with a docent-led tour of the exhibitions, then create a miniature landscape using needle felting. This workshop is for ages 15 and older.

Dye a Silk Scarf for Mother’s Day
Sunday, May 6, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
$30 for members, $45 for non-members
Registration deadline: April 27
Make a one-of-a-kind gift for mom or that special person in your life for Mother’s Day! Learn fun dyeing techniques to create a silk scarf that she will treasure forever. Create the scarf during the workshop and pick it up later that week. All materials are included.

Art vs. Craft: When Is Fiber Art "Art"?
Sunday, May 20, 2:00 p.m.
Free to members, $16 for non-members
Fiber has been used as an artistic medium for everything from dishtowels to abstract sculptural forms. This lecture by guest curator Lisa Morrisette will explore some of the difficult issues around this seemingly impassable divide.
