Donations and Sales of Art to the Museum
The museum's collections, which range from antiquities to contemporary have grown primarily through generous donations of art. If you are interested in presenting artwork for consideration, please send a letter or email with your current contact information (phone and email). Standard letters may be addressed to Aimee Marcereau DeGalan, Curator of Collections and Exhibitions, The Dayton Art Institute, 456 Belmonte Park North, Dayton, Ohio, 45405 — or email swright@daytonart.org. To expedite your inquiry, please indicate the specifications of the work (artist name, title of work, date, medium and dimensions) and include an image for preview (this can be a snapshot). Please state whether the artwork is being offered as a possible donation or for purchase.
Artist Review Procedure
Our curatorial team periodically reviews materials from artists who are interested in showing their work at the museum. Please submit a brief letter of interest, resume and 10-15 representative images (slides, snapshots, JPEGs on CD, or website links) to Aimee Marcereau DeGalan, Curator of Collections and Exhibitions, The Dayton Art Institute, 456 Belmonte Park North, Dayton, Ohio, 45405 — or email swright@daytonart.org. Do not send original artworks. If you would like your materials returned, please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope with sufficient postage. We receive a large number of proposals, so allow two to three months for the review process. We will respond to you as soon as your review is complete.
